1. When buying or selling used cars, the most important thing isn’t to let feelings get in the way. It is, at the heart, a business transaction.
2. You can use your mobile camera to click the pics. Take pictures of your car in sunlight – preferably early in the morning or in the evening.
3. Do not put your address in the ad. You don’t want possible buyers showing up at your house with no forewarning or appointment.
4. Look for a flaw that will allow room for negotiation: If you are looking at a car that has a small dent or crease, higher than normal miles driven, or some internal stains (better that you not ask where they are from), use these imperfections as leverage while making the deal. If they are easy fixes, go ahead and pay for it on your own or just live with it.
5. CraigsList enables you to include text and only four basic images in your ad, which is short for automobiles. You can host additional pics of your used cars on other sites and embed the pics in the ad.
6. When scheduling a test drive, treat this as a job and give them two different choices: “I can show you the car 4:30 pm on Friday or 10:00 am on Saturday; which time is more beneficial for you?” Take notes and get a telephone number to give a call back just in case something arises. This can help you returning the call of the person that you liked the best with a less expensive price should you become desperate.
7. Get your car professionally detailed. It will cost you $75 to $100. Believe me, this will make your car truly stand out from the crowd! Then, all you have to do is try to keep it looking great til you sell it! Believe me, used cars which are clean seem newer and more valuable!
8. Be truthful about describing your car, and but don’t dicker on the telephone. The purchaser needs to come and see what you are speaking about before the selling begins.
